1. It's Week 7 and here are some important details for the week ahead.Week 7's training plan will be pretty detailed in laying out training opportunities for the week. In addition to running options, there are detailed bodyweight/strength training plans and a jumps/plyos training plan with video links to make sure you are doing them properly, our core routine, and then some additional specifics depending on the training plan for that given day.
For sprint groups, If you are limited to working out at home, I would do the strength circuit twice a week, the jump circuit twice a week (preferably alternating on a Mon./Tues., then Thurs./Fri. schedule), and if allowed, do some hill work once or twice a week.
Coach Reynolds and I will post locales for interval work each week that are flat and dry. Crow Creek park has been serviceable but is a bit saturated/soft due to recent precipitation. You have the option of using the road that lines Scott Community College and the baseball/softball diamonds as we've used in the past. A treadmill will also work depending on the paces you need to hit.
If you were traveling and are returning from Spring Break, I encourage you to be responsible by training solo for the next two weeks. Some of you have been training in groups to 3-5, which is fine as long as you're feeling healthy and maintaining your space. Use this time to reach out to each other, especially those teammates you may not often communicate with. Check on them, see how they're doing, encourage them to get out the door even just to get some fresh air. This time is certainly challenging us all but we're all in this together.
All we can do is our best to be prepared should our season resume in 4 weeks. Feel free to post pics before/during/after workout and spread good vibes to your teammates. Thinking of you all, go with hope, and let's #CarryTheShield for each other.
The school premises, both indoors and outdoors, are offline this week. This means that the outdoor track and field facility is not available this week. It has also been recommended that no off-site practices as a team occur this week to help encourage social distancing and diminishing any further spread of illness. Coaches are also not encouraged to be present but we are around to help set up cones/measurements for any intended workouts prior to your arrival.
